Researcher Development Training Events
Our offerings are underpinned by a model of Mind showing why skills fit together.

Secrets of Researcher Success
Four selected training offerings for Researchers
Key topics delivered in person for 1 day each, or online over 3 x 2.5 hour sessions as stand-alone events or as a series.
1. Thinking
Thinking is what researchers do,
yet it is seldom taught explicitly as a practical skill.
2. Organising Yourself
Successful academics have to cope with an overwhelming volume of tasks and information. This is a skill that can be learnt.
3. People
Academic success involves people. You need skill to work superbly with people, especially when they are the main challenge.
4. Decision Making
Every day we solve problems and make decisions. But as the scale at which we work increases, the quality of the decisions and choices we make determines our enjoyment, and our futures.
Variations
A shorter introduction to these topics, or a combination of them, can also be delivered over 2 hours, or a half day. Further offerings include tailored topics such as “Creativity and Innovation for Researchers” as a 1 hour lunchtime presentation, or a break-out session at a researcher conference.
Programme for developing Research Careers
Forming the framework for a wider development programme for researchers

PROGRAMME
Becoming a Star Researcher
A research career depends on a lot more than excellent research – that’s just the starting point. What actions can you take today well before the future arrives to build that path? Do what you need to get ahead, that it’s hard to find time for. Work in “Research Teams” for the impact that matters to you.
Reactions
“I cannot tell you what a revelation your event was for me. The techniques you are teaching, once implemented, will give me exactly what I need. The whole day was wonderful.”
Kate Firth, Galen Research
“What a fantastic course – I was riveted..it was not only interesting and stimulating but also very useful. I can honestly say that the tools we covered today will change the way that I think and work from now on. Adrian was an excellent facilitator and he has inspired me to look at the way I work and think.”
Gemma Jones, Researcher, The University of Manchester
What next?
A good starter is the “Thinking” workshop.
We’d be happy to talk more about that and how it might help your existing programme.
